A Computational Approach to Measuring Semantic Change in Sanskrit Literature

The paper explores the application of diachronic word embeddings to Sanskrit, an ancient low-resource language, by creating a 2.7M-token corpus and using a neural sandhi splitter and lemmatizer to recover word boundaries. Evaluation with a historical validation set shows 19 out of 21 semantic shifts align with philological evidence.
