Energy Variation in Training Modern Computer Vision Architectures

This study measures energy consumption during training of seven modern computer vision models on ImageNet-10k, finding a strong but not perfect correlation between computational complexity (GFLOPs) and energy use. EfficientNet variants showed the best balance between performance and energy efficiency, while Vision Transformers consumed more energy and had lower performance under the tested configuration.
