Do Perturbation Predictors Learn Gene Interactions? Diagnosing Extrapolation in Agentic Screening

The study shows that specialized neural models do not consistently outperform a simple additive baseline in predicting effects of unmeasured gene combinations. The difference between model predictions and the additive prediction (additive disagreement) can serve as an indicator of errors.
