Structured Authority Injection: Persistent Human Control for LLM Agents via Typed MCP Overrides

The authors propose Structured Authority Injection (SAI), a method that enables operators to inject binding directives into LLM-based agents that persist across planning cycles. The method uses typed Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool calls and maintains a ranked authority context prepended to each LLM prompt. SAI defines three override classes (Constraint, Priority, and Strategy) with distinct persistence semantics and an explicit precedence order inaccessible to the planning process.

WHY IT MAY MATTER

The SAI method provides more reliable control over LLM agents, preventing the loss of operator directive influence during the planning process.
