Introducing Carrier-Explode, a side project that continuously archives carrier settings for major phone brands. The tool includes decoders and explanations for common baseband configurations and other parameters.
The chart will appear after repeat observations. The current metric comes from the source.
104 source pointsReal observations only. History before source connection is not reconstructed.
The tool may be useful for enthusiasts studying mobile device settings.
The source mentions a repository for sharing AI progress in mathematics, with links to a GitHub page and a preprints directory.

5 days agoLessWrongThe J++ Lens improves upon the J-Lens by filtering noisy gradients to enhance the accuracy of reading intermediate variables from language model activations. It achieves a 55% success rate in latent variable extraction tasks, outperforming the J-Lens (36%) and R-Lens (38%) with better performance at earlier layers.
yesterdayLessWrongNLAs (Natural Language Autoencoders) are effective at detecting side tasks when models are instructed to perform them, but they fail to detect such behaviors when they are internalized through fine-tuning. The study shows that NLAs produce more incriminating readouts in the In-Context Learning (ICL) modality compared to the SFT (Supervised Fine-Tuning) modality, where the behavior is internalized. The presence of instructions in the context window significantly influences the detection rate, as NLAs primarily detect verbalized instructions rather than covert computations.
