From Failures to Learnable Worlds: Policy-Conditioned Environment Generation for Navigation Agents

This work presents WEDGE, a framework for weakness-guided navigation learning that uses a pretrained agent's failure modes to generate training environments. WEDGE leverages a language model to identify environmental features causing failures and constructs targeted training environments. Experiments show that weakness-conditioned adaptation outperforms random and hard-example alternatives, with improvements transferring across datasets.
