Self-Credit: Credit Assignment for Long-Horizon Agentic RL via Intra-group Rescaling

The paper proposes Self-Credit, an end-to-end agentic RL method that creates dense supervision signals from sparse outcome rewards using self-generated credit assignment via intra-group rescaling. Self-Credit consists of three components: generating summaries with citations to critical actions during rollouts, refining these credit signals with intra-group rescaling, and advantage reweighting using the rescaled credit weights.

WHY IT MAY MATTER

Self-Credit can be useful for improving agent training in tasks with sparse rewards, especially on long time horizons, by leveraging self-generated credit assignment and intra-group rescaling.
